…urge religious leaders and institutions to abide by the Covid-19 guidelines
In response of the public health pandemic of Covid-19 virus, the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) and Forum for Peace Journalism considering the plight of the public wish to add our voice by calling on all Nigerians to remain calm and have faith in the Almighty God and never to lose faith and cast out doubt and fear in our minds.
As people of faith our response to the pandemic will determine our ability to demonstrate harmony so as to protect the citizens. We can help slow the pace of the spread through awareness campaigns by limiting harmful contents that can create panic among the people.
We solicit for religious leaders/institutions to abide by the Covid-19 guidelines by staying at home, obey the social distancing, regular washing of our hands with sanitizers, and most importantly to family members and children.
At this trying moment, we understand that community members are vulnerable due to high population densities and inadequate health facilities as we use this medium to call on all relevant stakeholders and government institutions to help communities to access essential support and services with update on information that place them in a position to combat the virus putting in mind local health authorities and WHO guidelines.
The Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) in collaboration with Forum for Peace Journalism will continue to support regulated information that is put in place by the government that will help in making our communities safe and together we believe we can overcome this present predicament for a healthy and peaceful world.
