The Federal Government has confirmed the release of the remaining 130 students and staff abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Niger State.

The announcement was made on Sunday, December 21, 2025, by presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare, who shared an image of the freed children on social media with the confirmation that “none are left in captivity.
The mass abduction, which occurred on November 21, 2025, initially involved over 300 victims, including students as young as five years old and their teachers.
This final group was secured through a coordinated security operation led by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The children are currently being transported to Minna, the state capital, where they will undergo medical evaluations before being reunited with their families for the Christmas holiday.
