President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, following their 2-0 victory against Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The match took place on Saturday at the Grand Stade de Marrakech in Morocco.
Nigeria secured its place in the semi-finals after second-half goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams broke through the Algerian defense, which had previously been one of the strongest in the tournament.
President Tinubu shared his support on the social media platform X shortly after the game ended. He described the team’s performance as brilliant and inspiring, noting that the entire nation is behind them as they advance to the next stage. With this win, Nigeria has ended Algeria’s undefeated run in the competition and is now preparing to face the host nation, Morocco, in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
The President’s message highlighted the pride and excitement felt by Nigerians following the team’s dominant display on the field.
