The Christian Media Forum (CMF) is mourning the death of Abubakar Abdullahi, the Imam of Nghar village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing him as a perfect example of peaceful coexistence.

This was expressed in a statement jointly signed by CMF National President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and its National Secretary, Andrew Ibrahim Mshelia, which further hailed the late Imam as a champion of peace and unity.

The Christian Media Forum expressed shock at the Imam’s death, describing it as a great loss not only to his family, but to the country as a whole.

The statement noted that Imam Abubakar Abdullahi died at a time when the country needs his counsel to unite people of different faiths to confront the nation’s common challenges.

The forum urged other clerics to emulate Imam Abubakar Abdullahi, who spent his entire life providing spiritual guidance and promoting peace across all faiths.

“We join members of his immediate family and the Muslim community to mourn the death of an advocate of peaceful coexistence,” the statement read.

“We stand with his family in this trying time and pray that the Lord grant his soul eternal rest.”

The CMF also commended the late Imam for his bravery and selflessness in sheltering Christians during the violent attacks.

The forum believes that Imam Abubakar Abdullahi’s legacy should inspire Nigerians to work toward unity and peaceful coexistence.

The CMF extended its condolences to the family of the late Imam and the Muslim community.

The Christian Media Forum prayed that the late Imam’s contributions to peace and unity in Nigeria would be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.

“May God grant the departed soul eternal rest and comfort his family and loved ones,” the forum prayed.

Abubakar Abdullahi was a courageous cleric who famously sheltered 262 Christians during violent attacks in his village.

His death was confirmed on Friday by his son, Saleh Abubakar, who told reporters that the cleric passed away on Thursday night at the Plateau Specialist Hospital in Jos.

According to Saleh, his father had been hospitalized for about ten days before his death after being diagnosed with a heart condition.
