Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking at the “Obidient Conference” held yesterday in Uyo, Obi expressed absolute confidence in a victory, marking a definitive shift from the Labour Party (LP).
Obi stated that the move was necessary to navigate institutional hurdles, alleging that as long as he remained in the Labour Party, the leadership would face non-recognition from the electoral body.
He outlined a vision for a “New Nigeria” centered on intentional investments in education and healthcare, which he described as the twin pillars for pulling the nation out of poverty and addressing rising criminality.
The former governor reaffirmed his commitment to transparent governance, promising a focus on human capital development to drive national growth. He further urged his supporters to remain vigilant and focused on the 2027 goal, ensuring that the electoral process reflects the true will of the people.
