The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the timetable and schedule of activities for Nigeria’s 2027 General Elections.

This announcement, made by INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, provides a definitive roadmap for the polls despite ongoing legislative deliberations regarding amendments to the Electoral Act.
The Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2027.
This will be followed by the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections on Saturday, March 6, 2027.
The commission further specified that Continuous Voter Registration will begin in April 2026, while political party primaries are expected to take place between July and September 2026.
Official campaigns for national positions will commence on November 18, 2026, concluding 24 hours before the first round of voting.
