Speaking during an interview with BBC Hausa on Wednesday, the former governor expressed deep concern over what he described as a growing trend of political intimidation aimed at silencing opposition figures.
Having recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress, El-Rufai noted that the detention of several close associates serves as a clear signal of impending action against him.
He further claimed that significant political pressure is being exerted on politicians to either remain within the APC or return to the ruling party, suggesting that the legal system is being used to enforce political loyalty.
