Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako’s eldest son, Mahdi Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko on Sunday joined the royals as the newly turbanned District Head and Baraden Wamakko , Alhaji Ahmad Barade turbanned him as the ‘ ‘Yariman Wamakko’.

Senator Wamakko , a former governor who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District is the APC leader in Sokoto state.
Mahdi , 40 , was turbanned along 5 others as pioneer title holders who joined the traditional institution’s hierarchy of Wamakko District royals, Wamakko local government area, Sokoto state to strengthen its heritage.
Others on the roll turbanned with their respective titles included : Alhaji Muhammad Sani Audu as ‘ Tafidan Wamakko’ , Habibu Dan Galadima as ‘ Dan Majen Wamakko’, Alhaji Mukhtar Jibrin Wamakko as ‘ Mainan Wamakko while Alhaji Mika’ ilu Bello also turbanned the ‘ Dan Iyan Wamakko and Alhaji Anwar Sadat Muhammad as the ‘ Shattiman Wamakko ‘ .
The six new title holders were turbanned by the Baraden Wamakko shortly after his traditional turbanning shaving ceremony at the Gidan Kara country home of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, venue of the event which attracted dignitaries who braced the gathering among whom were the Ministers of State for Works , Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo and Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi.
Also at the event were firmer deputy governor in the state, Chuso Abdullahi Dattijo , former Ambassador to Morocco , Abubakar Shehu Wurno , Representatives of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto and Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
Others who witnessed the colourful ceremonies heralded with traditional and cultural activities including durbar displayed by horse and camel riders , blacksmiths were the Northwest Zonal Secretary of APC, Sadiq Isah Achida, state APC Chairman, Haruna S.Adiya, national and state Assembly members, top government functionaries , LGs Chairmen , party stalwarts and politicians as well as members of the business community.
Also on display, was traditional wrestling and boxing , the ‘Yan Tauri performance , the popular fulani ‘sharo’ and Daro by the Sullubawa to showcase the heritage of the Hausa tradition.
