In an official statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the management, coaching staff, players, and dedicated supporters of the Enugu-based club.
The Flying Antelopes sealed their championship run at the summit of the league table, amassing 68 points across 38 matches to finish ahead of their closest contenders, Rivers United.
Reflecting on the club’s rich heritage, President Tinubu recalled the legendary era of Rangers in the 1970s and 1980s.
During this golden age, the team dominated the domestic scene with multiple league and FA Cup titles, notably reaching the finals of the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1975 and lifting the prestigious African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.
The President also commended Rivers United for their exceptional performance and high level of sportsmanship throughout the grueling season.
He extended his best wishes to both Rangers International and Rivers United as they gear up to fly Nigeria’s flag in the upcoming season of the CAF Champions League.
