The directive was made public through an official announcement by Funsho Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
According to the ministry, this temporary price cut is a targeted intervention aimed at lowering travel costs for citizens journeying to various parts of the country during the holiday season.
The half-price discount officially kicked off on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and is scheduled to run until Monday, June 1, 2026.
The transportation ministry confirmed that the markdown applies to all existing approved passenger rates nationwide.
Furthermore, a rebate system has been put in place to ensure that commuters who bought their tickets prior to the announcement can still benefit from the half-fare initiative.
