The Budget Office of the Federation has disclosed that no funds appropriated for the disputed Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PEAC/PFIPC) were ever released or spent.

Appearing before a House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the council’s establishment and budgetary allocations, the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, explained that while the National Assembly approved funds for the body, the necessary statutory conditions to authorise expenditure were never met.
Yakubu revealed that the Budget Office actively withheld financial clearance, blocked recruitment and payroll approvals, and directed the Federal Ministry of Finance, along with the Office of the Accountant-General, to freeze all payment instruments. As a result, the allocated personnel, overhead, and capital funds did not result in actual disbursements or procurement. He assured lawmakers that the office would continue providing full records to support the ongoing probe.
The clarification comes amid mounting controversy surrounding the agency after an individual, Adeniyi Adeyemi, paraded himself as its director-general for months, operating out of an office space at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja and circulating photos with diplomats and high-profile figures on social media.
