The fixture, confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage matches on Sunday, is scheduled to take place at the Mohammed VI Football Academy complex in Salé.

Head coach Hakeem Busari’s side secured their spot in the knockout phase after finishing second in Group B with six points from three matches.

After opening their tournament with a 2–1 loss to Poland, the Flamingos bounced back with a 2–0 victory over Puerto Rico before stunning two-time defending champions North Korea 3–1 in their final group match.

Mexico also finished second in Group F to advance to the last 16. The North American side confirmed their qualification with a 1–0 win over Australia in their group finale on Sunday, thanks to a decisive goal by Citlalli Reyes.

The CONCACAF side will enter the fixture backed by recent global success, having earned the bronze medal at the 2025 edition of the tournament. However, Nigeria will look to build on the momentum generated from their landmark victory over North Korea as they continue their pursuit of a World Cup podium finish.
