The announcement was confirmed by the NFF in a statement citing a official communication signed by FIFA Secretary-General Mattias Grafström and addressed to NFF Acting General Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme.
According to the letter, the committee will consist of a suitable number of members to be appointed jointly by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as soon as possible. The body’s mandate will run until it completes its assigned tasks, but no later than May 31, 2027.
To ensure impartiality, FIFA explicitly stated that none of the members appointed to the Normalisation Committee will be eligible to run for any position in the upcoming NFF elections under any circumstances.
In the interim, the NFF Secretariat will continue handling day-to-day administrative operations and managing Nigerian football affairs until the joint FIFA-CAF Normalisation Committee is formally constituted.
