The Anglican Communion has announced the tragic death of the abducted priest in charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero, Reverend Edwin Achi, while he was still in the custody of bandits.

Reverend Achi and his wife were kidnapped by gunmen from their residence in Nissi Village, near the Kaduna Refinery in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 28, 2025. They were subsequently taken to an unknown location.
A few days after the abduction, the kidnappers had contacted the family, demanding a staggering ₦600 million ransom for the release of the victims.
The Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, confirmed the cleric’s death in a statement. They described the loss of Reverend Achi as a painful blow to the entire Diocese, the clergy, the Church family, and all those who were blessed by his faithful ministry.
