Aircraft evacuating stranded Nigerians in Sudan to arrive 11pm

No fewer than 205 Nigerians stranded have been evacuated from the war-torn Sudan, the Federal Government said on Friday.

The Nigerian Air Force has said its C-130H aircraft evacuating Nigerians stranded in Sudan from Egypt has departed Aswan.

Many Nigerians are stranded in Sudan following the ongoing crisis in the country.

Subsequently, the Nigerian Air Force, Air Peace, and other airlines were cleared to fly to Egypt to pick up stranded Nigerians.

However, on Wednesday, the Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa, in a terse message on Whatsapp confirmed that its aircraft is expected to land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by 11:23 pm.

He said, “I am pleased to inform you that the NAF C-130H aircraft that went to evacuate Nigerians stranded in Sudan has departed Aswan and is expected to touch down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja by 2340hrs (11.23 pm) tonight. Anyone interested may wish to be at the airport to cover the event. Grateful.”
