Speaking at a New Year Mass at Sacred Heart Parish in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio revealed that the decision was the result of “spiritual counsel” and personal reflection following the priest’s sermon.
The Senate President had previously initiated nearly nine high-profile cases involving allegations of defamation, slander, and false accusations. Most notable among these was a ₦200 billion lawsuit filed in late 2025 against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan following her allegations of sexual harassment against him—claims Akpabio has consistently denied and challenged in court.
“I listened to the priest and suddenly realized he was talking to me,” Akpabio stated. “I hereby direct my solicitor to withdraw all lawsuits against them.”
