The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has kicked off the new year with a stern demand for the Federal Government to “urgently” review workers’ salaries. Ajaero insisted that 2026 must be the year the government fulfills its promise to transition from a minimum wage to a “living wage”—one that guarantees a dignified life rather than just the ability to stay afloat.
While acknowledging that 2025 was an exceptionally difficult year for the Nigerian workforce, he reaffirmed the union’s commitment to using all legitimate means to secure economic justice and expressed hope for a more prosperous year ahead.
