TWO persons were at the weekend killed and thirteen others taken by suspected bandits in an attack on Mamman Suka community in Gwadabawa local government of Sokoto state.
Reports say the attackers stormed the community in multiples of hundreds well armed and opened fire leading to the killing of two persons and took away 13 others.
However, the local government is within the Eastern axis of the caliphate where the spate of banditry attacks, kidnappings for ransome and cattle rustling as well sundry crimes has over time, rendered many villages helpless and displaced.
The incident according to reports left many residents in fears with some contemplating leaving the community.
Confirming the attack to reporters, the council Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Aya said the attackers operated freely for hours .
According to Aya” the bandits abducted 11 females and two males. They also rustled some livestock and went away with valuables including mobile phones and money belonging to residents and their immediate victims.”
” All these happened without any intervention nor support from the security agents”, he said.
Meanwhile, Aya appealed to government for security support and reinforcement against attacks on the area and state as a whole.
” I also appeal to the army and other security agencies to passionately make efforts to rescue the victims taken away by the attackers .”
