By Suleiman Adamu, Sokoto

SOKOTO state Governor Dr
Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has vowed to make the state unsafe destination for bandits and other criminals threatening the peace and security of lives and property of citizens in the state.

The Governor also assured of maximum support to the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto for effective and better performance of its operations towards securing the state against banditry and other crimes.

Aliyu Sokoto made the separate remarks in Sokoto during an emergency meeting with heads of security agencies and courtesy visit by the GOC 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Godwin Micheal Mutkut.

The remarks followed last Saturday’s bandits attacks on three communities in Tangaza local government which led to the killing of over 30 persons with several others wounded.

The affected communities were Raka, Raka Dutse and Filin Gawa respectively.

The Governor stressed that nothing will be left to chance by his administration at ensuring responsive collaboration and measures among conventional and vigilante security organs in the state.

He noted with confidence that the 8 Division GOC and his team had the capacity to achieving a peaceful and secured Sokoto state, stressing that the issue of security was cardinal and part of his 9-points agenda to be taken seriously.

This, he said all hands must be on deck towards achieving results while adding that ” we are ready to drive measures that will ensure peace and security of lives and property in the state” while appreciating the command’s display of professionalism in providing security during and after the elections in the state.

Earlier, the GOC while expressing concerns that the recent bandits attacks on the three communities occured under the command’s watch, assured the governor of bracing to the task of ensuring responsive measures and operations were driven to putting a total stop to it.

According to him” we are not taking exception to putting a stop in a matter of days by getting the culprits and make them pay for their actions”, he vowed.

Mutkut further sympathised and condoled with the people of the state and families of the deceased over the killings.
