He claimed that the actions of the former governors helped fuel banditry and violence across the region. He also confirmed that he participated in a series of peace meetings with the Zamfara State government during the administration of a former governor of the state.
Turji, however, vehemently denied claims that he received N30 million or any material inducement to take part in the peace process, insisting that he was not financially compensated for his involvement.
Efforts to obtain the reaction of the former governors at press time yesterday proved abortive, as they neither picked calls nor returned them. Text and WhatsApp messages sent to their mobile phones also went unanswered.
Meanwhile, several sources close to the former governors dismissed the allegations, insisting that the words of a terrorist should not be believed.
