The Special advicer to the Governor of Benue State on projects, Uza Dooshima, has expressed her satisfaction on the just concluded Local Government elections in the state. She made the assertion while addressing journalists short after casting her vote at Katsina-Ala Local Government area of the state.
Dooshima however,commended the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) for conducting a free and fair election. She stressed that the election was conducted in a peaceful manner.” I am happy for the peaceful conduct of this election. Look at the way and manner this election was conducted, no crises or snatching of ballot papers. There was no report of violent anywhere in all the 23 LGs. I casted my vote on a free atmosphere than unlike before where you will be scared to go to the polling unit because of all this election violence. With this, I am 100 percent satisfied. I give the BISEC kudos”.
She also commended the effort of the state governor, His Excellency, Dr. Samuel Ortom, for taken a bold step in asking the BSIEC to conduct the LG elections at this critical time. Stating that despite the economic challenges in the country, Governor Ortom was able to take a bold step by ensuring that democracy gets to the grassroots. She added that the Governor want the people from the grassroots to feel the impact of his administration. “I can tell you that His Excellency, Governor Ortom is a man of the people and he is interested in reaching the grassroots. This election will tell you that the Governor has the people of Benue State at heart”.
Speaking on the achievements of the Governor, Dooshima said, Governor Ortom have performed credibly well in his two years in office. Pointing that the administration has embarked on various projects that are people oriented. “As I speak to you, a lot of projects are on-going and a lot has also been completed and commissioned. In terms of road projects, a lot of projects has been executed cut across the state which I may not be able to mention them now because of time. On the area of Agricultural, Education, Health, Basic amenities and human capital development. I can tell you that the Governor has done very excellently”.
She however, thanked the people of Katsina-Ala LG for coming out en mass to exercise their franchise and voting for the candidates of their choice.
Dooshima, also called on the people of Benue State to support the present administration, stating that the current administration has all it takes to provide the true dividend of democracy. “I want the people of Benue State to support the current administration, because I believed that the administration has what it take to move the state forward”, she added.
