BENUE STATE GOVERNMENT FLAGS OFF MAJOR RURAL ROADS IN KWANDE AND BURUKU LGAs.

The honorable Commissioner for Works, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Tiza Isaac Imojime Orya on Thursday , 30th May, 2024 on behalf of the Benue State government officially flagged off the construction of Manyam – Unongo Village – Adikpo (23km) and Tyowanye – Uga (21km) roads in Kwande and Buruku LGAs respectively.

Performing the ceremonies, the commissioner underscored Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s commitment towards rural roads infrastructure to boost the economic and social activities of the people in those areas, assuring that similar projects were soon to commence in other localities.

According to the commissioner, His Excellency graciously awarded the construction of Manyam – Unongo Village – Adikpo road in honor of the late stateman Wantaregh Paul Unongo, a road that has been turned down by the previous administrations on repeated requests from the late Unongo. He described the project as a legacy project.

Earlier the Project Manager of ENERCO NIG. LMT Engr. Mazen Kalassina appreciated the governor for finding the construction company trustworthy of undertaking the project, adding that they were enjoying maximum support and cooperation from both the government and the host communities and promised to deliver high quality work within the stipulated timeframe.

According to him, the 23km road is expected to be completed within twelve dry months.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs and Son to late Unongo, Hon. Fidelis Unongo, Kwande Caretaker Chairman Rev. Fr. Mark Teryila, Chief of Unongo Village Zaki Dennis Ibi and residents who spoke expressed great joy and appreciations to Gov. Alia for the legacy project, saying the road when completed would open up the hinterland and reconnect it to the cities making life a lot easier for the people.

The Works Boss also conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing road constructions on the former Clinic road, Gyado junction underpass and Kesi street all in Gboko Local Government Area.

The commissioner was accompanied by the Technical Adviser to the governor on Infrastructure Engr. Mlumun Ikpa-Hindi, Engr. Robert Ahen Chenge, Senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of House of Reps, Hon. Kelvin Atsem Gbande, Ambasador Akume Raphael among other personalities.
