KADUNA, Nigeria — The Christian Media Forum (CMF) has praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for selecting a Christian as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a step toward inclusive governance and balanced political representation.
In a statement issued Wednesday and jointly signed by the forum’s National President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and National Secretary, Andrew Ibrahim Mshelia, the group said the governor’s choice demonstrates fairness, inclusiveness, and a commitment to peaceful coexistence in the state.
The forum said the nomination has renewed confidence among many Christians who had advocated for greater religious balance in the state’s leadership.
According to the statement, the decision marks a departure from the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, a move the forum said generated concerns among many Christian communities in Kaduna State.
CMF said Governor Uba Sani’s leadership reflects the religious and cultural diversity of the state and has helped promote unity among its residents.
“The governor has demonstrated political maturity by embracing a leadership style that accommodates the diversity of Kaduna State,” the statement said.
The forum added that inclusive governance remains essential for sustainable peace and noted that the current administration has made progress in rebuilding trust among communities previously divided along religious and ethnic lines.
It also credited the governor with promoting dialogue, tolerance, and equal opportunities, describing those qualities as critical to maintaining peace and stability.
The group congratulated Comrade Jerry Adams on his emergence as the governor’s running mate, expressing confidence that his selection reflects the administration’s commitment to representing all segments of society.
It urged Adams to uphold integrity, humility, fairness, and dedication in public service while serving all citizens regardless of their religious affiliation.
The forum also called on Christians across Kaduna State to pray for peaceful elections and to participate actively in the democratic process.
It urged political parties and their supporters to conduct peaceful campaigns, avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and prioritize the unity and development of Kaduna State.
The statement further appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth organizations, and civil society groups to continue promoting peace, tolerance, and reconciliation before, during, and after the 2027 elections.
The Christian Media Forum reaffirmed its commitment to promoting justice, equity, religious harmony, and national unity, while wishing Governor Uba Sani and his running mate wisdom and success as they continue serving the people of Kaduna State.
