…Urges prayers for peace, unity, national renewal
Kaduna — The Christian Media Forum (CMF) has called on Christians across Nigeria to rededicate themselves to the teachings of Jesus Christ as the country marks the 2025 Christmas celebration, while strongly condemning the recent bomb explosion at a mosque in Borno State that left five people dead and 35 others injured.
In a Christmas message signed by its National President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and National Secretary, Andrew Ibrahim Mshelia, the forum urged Christians to reflect deeply on the values of love, compassion, forgiveness and selflessness exemplified by Christ, especially in a period marked by security and socio-economic challenges.
The CMF encouraged believers to use the festive season to pray for peace, unity and progress in Nigeria, stressing that national healing requires collective commitment beyond religious and ethnic lines.
Acknowledging the prevailing security concerns across the country, the forum commended the Federal Government for ongoing efforts to address insecurity, noting that the challenge is complex and demands sustained, coordinated action.
The statement also praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for initiatives aimed at fostering unity and reconciliation between Christians and Muslims in the state. According to the CMF, the governor’s attendance at the state Christmas carol service was a strong symbol of solidarity and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
“The Governor’s presence at the Christmas carol service is a significant gesture that reinforces the values of tolerance, mutual respect and unity among people of different faiths,” the forum said.
The CMF emphasized that Christmas is a season of joy, giving and service, urging Christians to reach out to the needy, vulnerable and less privileged in their communities. It called on believers to be ambassadors of peace and love, contributing positively to nation-building.
While celebrating the season, the forum expressed solidarity with Nigerian Christians and other citizens who have suffered losses due to insecurity and violence, assuring them of prayers and continued advocacy for peace.
The CMF strongly condemned the Borno State mosque explosion, describing it as a tragic and unacceptable act of violence, and extended condolences to the families of the victims, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The forum expressed hope that the spirit of Christmas would inspire Nigerians to work collectively toward a more peaceful, united and prosperous nation in the coming year.
As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, the CMF prayed for God’s blessings, peace and prosperity upon the country, and for wisdom and guidance for leaders at all levels to make decisions that promote the well-being of all citizens.
The forum wished Nigerians, especially Christians, a joyous and blessed Christmas celebration.
