The assistant director African climate Reporters Dr Piman Hoffman in an interview with the press in Kaduna has applauded Bauchi state government for planning to host the first Northeast climate change conference with critical stakeholders as participants in Nigeria.
Hoffman said *this is a welcome development to the entire Northeastern Nigeria region , in view of the increasing rate of desertification , deforestation , Gully erosion , land degradation and general situation associated with environmental problems

He said, Tackling northeast Nigeria environmental challenges require the involvement of every stake holders including NGO, CSOs, Traditional rulers, Religious clerics, women organization and volunteers
Adding that , “There is a need to halt overexploitation of natural resources and other mining activities in the entire north,
The climatologist Stressed that federal and states government have to put a stop to charcoal and firewood business in the entire country while calling on ministry of environment to enacts a law specially to punish offenders.
Hoffman assured Bauchi state Government on their total support and participation on the climate conference with Climate reporters and other scientists from Nigeria and other African countries

He said, Nigeria’s forestry sector is in great danger due to the increasing demand of forest trees for domestic uses, hence the need to raise awareness for citizens to contribute to the daily battle against felling trees without planting new ones to replace them.
The climatology then appealed to government at all levels, stakeholders, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and all Nigerians to scale up awareness creation efforts to boost tree planting.
Similarly Dr Yusuf Nadabo, the patron African Climate Reporters urged federal government to include Climate Change education in Nigerian educational curriculum, so as to enabled children participate in the fight against global warming and how to reduce environmental challenges
Nadabo stressed that teaching the subject in Nigerian primary and secondary schools would help save the environment and ensure sustainable action to mitigate its causes.
He concluded by appreciating Bauchi state government for planning to host First north east climate change conference as a welcome development.
Dr Nadabo who is the former Head of department Anatomy Kaduna state university has called on scientists and other climatologist to try and participate in the conference ,so as to reduce the daily challenges resulting from global warming and other environmental challenges affecting the entire region
