After 50 years of graduation, Old students of Class 64/68 of the famous Nagarata College, Sokoto one of the premier colleges in the north is set to celebrate its Golden Jubilee on Saturday 29th December, 2018 at the college premises.
Notable personalities of the Class of ’68 chapter expected to grace the ocassion are former Military Governor of Kaduna state, Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar(rtd), Emir of Gummi, HRH Justice Muhammad Lawal Hassan Gumi, Professor Junaidu Maina of Livestock Abuja, Emir of Bazai-Jangeru, Alhaji Mamman Moriki; former Secretary to Sokoto state Government, Halliru Aliyu Tambuwal among others.
According to the programme of events released Wednesday by the Chairman, Publicity Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe said the event will commence Friday with a special prayer to be for the repose of 44 deceased classmates at the Sidi Attahiru mosque, Sokoto which will be followed by a re-union reception at the University Guest Inn accordingly.
Balarabe, who was one time Sole Administrator of Yabo LG said day-two of the events will feature a reunion meeting and photographs session.
The old students will also tour the college and commission 2 blocks of 4 classrooms renovated by them after which a launch will take place in the college dining hall before prayer in the school mosque and finally depart.
However, prominent among those who attended and graduated from the college under the first black Principal, Muhammad Dorugu include late former Premier of defunct Norther Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello(Sardauna of Sokoto), former President Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari, late Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki and late Sultan Muhammadu Maccido
