A primary school teacher, Baba Mohammed Wanigi, has been issued suspension letter from duty over unspecified Facebook posts against President Buhari and the Niger state Government headed by alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, the letter of suspension which was exclusively obtained by NIGERWATCH NEWSAPAPER was issued by Agaie local education Authority, office the education secretary, dated 25 may, 2018. the letter reads:
“Reference to the education secretaries’ meeting with all the 169 head teachers of Agaie local government education authority, and all the staff of the central admin, warning them against active participation in politics and also hate speech, especially in the social media. and your subsequent posts in your Facebook timeline recently against the personality of the president of federal republic of Nigeria and the present government at all levels. i.e local, state and federal government. inline with above, the management of Agaie local government education authority has resolved it their (sic) emergency management meeting held on 25 may, 2018, that you are suspended from the service of agaie LGEA INDEFINITELY”
The letter is signed by Danlami M. Abubakar, HOS/PM for education secretary.
Mr. Wanigi who spoke with NIGERWATCH NEWSAPAPER said he was surprise at the action of the local government and will be approaching a law court over the matter.
In a swift reaction to the suspension, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party Chairman Niger State. Bar. Tanko Beji said, ”they are just playing the script of the ruling party how do you suspend someone indefinitely? suspension is done to give room for investigation, so how can that be indefinitely” he added.
Mr. Baba Wanigi is a family man with a wife, two children and aged parent.
The Yan- almajiri Endowment Initiative and YouthLeadNigeria are planing a massive civil protest if the decision is not reviewed withing one week.
All calls made to the education secretary, Mr. Idris Boku’s phone number were not picked and till the time of going to the press the calls were not rerurned.
