The chairman of the (APC) in , Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, has said Governor is not backing any candidate in the party’s ongoing ward congresses, stressing that the governor has ensured a level playing field for all aspirants.

Speaking with journalists in on Thursday, El-Sudi dismissed speculations of internal conflict within the party, saying the congress process has been peaceful and orderly across the state.
According to him, the neutrality of the governor has contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
“Our governor has given everyone a level playing ground, and that is why the congress is moving smoothly,” El-Sudi said. “There is no fight or rancor in the state. The party is open to everyone, and if you don’t get an opportunity today, it does not mean you are out of the process.”
He likened the party to an inclusive platform where members should remain patient and committed, noting that future opportunities remain available for those who may not secure positions during the current exercise.
El-Sudi added that given the size and diversity of the APC, the congress should not be viewed in terms of winners and losers. Instead, he said, members who do not emerge in the ward leadership contests can still contribute through other roles within the party and local government structures, including supervisory and advisory positions.
Background
Ward congresses are a critical component of party organization in Nigeria, serving as the foundation for electing grassroots officials who coordinate political activities at the local level and help shape party structures ahead of major elections.
In Taraba, political observers have closely watched the process amid broader efforts by parties to strengthen internal democracy and consolidate their support bases. The APC, which remains a major opposition force in the state, has sought to project unity as it prepares for future electoral contests.
Governor Kefas, though not a member of the APC, has repeatedly called for peaceful political engagement and inclusive governance, a stance party officials say has helped maintain a calm political atmosphere during the congress period.
Party stakeholders say the outcome of the ward congresses will influence subsequent local government and state congresses, ultimately shaping the party’s leadership and strategy going forward.
El-Sudi urged members to remain peaceful and supportive of the process, emphasizing that unity within the party is essential for strengthening democratic participation in the state.
Just tell me.
