Residents of Calabar, the Cross River capital city and other major towns in the state who have been reduced to depend on private bore-holes for several months now are elated as the Cross River State Water Board Limited (CRSWBL) commenced the production and distribution of quality water to the company’s clients.
Across the state capital and other parts of the Cross River, households, businesses and industrial outfits connected to water board water lines are excited as fresh quality water now runs from their tapes, signalling an end to exploitation by private bore-hole owners.
Some of the people who spoke in Calabar commended the State Governor, Sen Prof Ben Ayade for investing in the production and distribution of quality water to the people of Cross River by providing the water Board with the necessary fund to carry out renovation and replacement of obsolete equipment and procurement of standard water chemicals.
Speaking at Ikot Ansa, Calabar, a resident, Mr. Odey Acha, expressed happiness that finally the people of the state can now access well treated quality drinking water courtesy of the governor who has decided to invest heavily in providing quality water for the people.
“It is a good thing that finally the people of Cross River State can now access good drinking water. The water that has been pumped out to consumers meets global standard and shall indeed contribute immensely to good health for the citizens”, Acha asserted.
Mr. Efiom Efiom Bassey on his part said that the provision of quality water to the people by the administration of Ayade is one of the best thing and a product of good governance, stressing that a healthy life begins from drinking quality water free of contamination.
“Watching quality water gushing out from our water pipes into our homes, offices and businesses is one of the greatest thing that has happened to the people of the state at this time. The people will not only spend less on water, but will equally have clean water to drink and as such help to keep most sicknesses away”.
Also commending the governor for the brand new water Board which has helped in providing the people with good drinking water, Mrs. Ojong Ndidi Okim is excited that she and her family can now have quality water at an affordable rate monthly, while hoping that the quality of the water production would be maintained and the consistency would equally be sustained.
“I really thank Ayade for supporting and funding the water board and today we are having quality water for use. It is however my prayer that the quality should be maintained and the consistency sustained”.
