Former Chief Justice Tanko Muhammad Dies at 71

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has announced the death of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 71.

In a formal condolence message, the current Chief Justice, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, expressed her sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the people of Bauchi State, describing the loss as a significant blow to the legal community.

The NJC praised the late jurist for his legacy of integrity and dedication to the Nigerian bench. While mourning his departure, the Council noted that Justice Muhammad’s career was defined by hard work and a steadfast commitment to the judiciary.

Prayers were offered for his family to find the fortitude to bear the loss of the distinguished statesman.
