The Kaduna State Government has started embarking on demolition exercise in Gbagi Villa community and affected people in the area took to the street to resist the bulldozers.
According to an eye witness the community women barricaded the roads and youth in the area started stoning at the bulldozers trying to stop the demolition from happening.
Responding to this act, security personels started shooting at protesters to scare them off.
As at the time of filling this report no life was lost.
It would be recalled that the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development (KASUPDA) had secured the approval to embark on the final phase of the demolition exercise, which also affected the property of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shittes, the Gbagyi villa residential complex, illegal structures at Kawo General Hospital, Polo Club, and other unauthorised structures in the state.
Last week, the Government of the state had distributed notice of the demolition exercise to the affected people in the state.
Six structures across Kaduna town and environs belonging to followers of Sheikh Ibrahim el-Zakzaky, known as Shi’ites, have already been demolished by operatives of the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) on Sunday.
