GBV: NASFAT sensitises communities across 3 most prevalent LGs in Sokoto

The campaign against Gender Based Violence (GBV) is gaining grounds in Sokoto state as an Islamic group under the auspices of Nasrul- Lahi – Fatih Society( NASFAT) takes the course to sensitize communities across three local government councils considered most affected with vulnerable records of gender based violence .

The local governments include: Binji, Sokoto North and Tangaza.

The development was disclosed at a press conference in Sokoto by the Islamic group addressed by its Secretary General, Alhaji Daud Sumonu.

Sumonu who made reference to the startling revelations by the state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs on the records and number of cases , observed that no fewer than 411 cases of GBV were discovered.

” This informed our reason to embark on the sensitisation campaign in across communities in the 3LGs.”

In the same vein, Alhaji Muftahuddeen, Zonal Chairman of the group while highlighting further on the act, regretted that most of the perpetrators were children of the rich.

” The perpetrators are well connected. Is regrettably that they threaten victims or give token to in order to silent the parents against seeking justice”, he added.
