A newly re-modeled Nigerian Army Guest House was Friday commissioned in Sokoto by the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade.
The re-modeled structure is located at No. 1 Achida Road, Sokoto.
In his address, Major General Adeniyi who was also the Guest of Honour according to a release issued yesterday in Sokoto by Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Clement Abiade, expressed delight at efforts made through the intervention of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai to bring to life the hitherto dilapidated and abandoned facility to productive use again.
He reiterated the passion of the COAS for not only the professional development of the troops but also for their welfare within the available resources.
The Commanding Officer, however, charged the troops to always ensure maintenance of facility they occupy to avail themselves of the deriveable comfort and convenience.
“Maintenance is made easy if it is dealt with promptly as soon as it is noticed”, Oyebade added.
Accordingly, Oyebade stressed on the efforts of the Commander-in-Chief and his entire cabinet towards ensuring that resources were provided not only for operational activities but also for troop’s welfare.
The GOC 1 Division further expressed gratitude to the Sultan, government and people of Sokoto State for their support to the Nigerian Army.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commander 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ginikanwa Nwosu recalled how the structure was abandoned and turned to public toilet and haven for addicts and mentally challenged persons for years, expressed appreciation to the appropriate superior authority in particular, the COAS, Lieutenant General TY Buratai who have made the story of recovery and remodeling of the new Nigerian Army Guest House a huge success for the benefit of officers and guests of the Nigerian Army.
Meanwhile, dignitaries in and out of the military who graced the historic commissioning evenbt included the President and Founder of SG Adiya Farms Ltd, Dr Abdullahi SG Adiya, other distinguished invited guests, officers, soldiers and Corps members
