Ahead of Saturday’s governorship and states assembly polls, the Sultanate council, Sokoto, has urged electorates to come out en-mass to elect leaders of their choice.
The Sultanate council in a statement by its Secretary, Mr Umar Faruk Ladan, also advised voters and members of the public to maintain adequate peace before, during and after the election.
It further urged electorates to continue to cooperate with security agencies at all levels to help them provide peaceful atmosphere during the exercise.
In the same vein, the concil called on security agencies to remain neutral and act in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations of the electoral act 2010.
Accordingly, the council in the statement urged the Indedependent National Electoral Commission, INEC to ensure free, fair and credible elections for the betterment of the country.
Hitherto, while appreciating religious clerics for their continued prayers for sustainable peace, unity and progress of the country, the Sultanate council called on Muslims and Imams to hold a special prayer sessions on Friday 8th March for a hitch free exercise
It also warned political party leaders to call on their supporters to desist from all negative acts or face the wrath of the law.
Similarly, it appealed to contestants to accept the decision of the electorates in good faith and join hands in working together for the overall development of the state and the country.
