I’ll Never Support Thuggery – Tambuwal

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has said that his administration will never subscribe to political thuggery in any form or guise‎ just as he said ” I have tamed such activities by the youths to the base”
The governor also vowed to ensure total departure from the trend.
He said he would not compromise the peaceful nature ‎of the state for violence.
Speaking yesterday in Sokoto at the 3 years anniversary of the establishment of a Sokoto based FM Radio station’ Vision ‎FM’, organised by its listeners association, Tambuwal said Sokoto was not known for such vices” it is not in tune with our history and practice bequeath our founding fathers.
” ‎This is mostly perpetrated by our youths who mortgage their future for stipends from unpatriotic and destructive politicians in pursuit of their ambition”, he noted.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Musa Abubakar Girkau, the governor explained that his government has been on top against all vices especially among the youths, adding that” we have sustained our efforts and will continue to sensitise and re-orient our youths. And support them through various schemes including vocational skills and trades to make them self reliant so that they can be useful to selves and society.
” We want them to be more of productive not destructive members of the society. Therefore, I am calling on parents to be steadfast and redouble their efforts to discourage their children from political thuggery and other social vices”, he stated.
‎In her paper titled: ” Politics, Thuggery and Youth Development”, Hajiya Rabiatu Kabir Runka observed that political thuggery has over time remain a destructive phenomenon to society among youths.
Runka who described youths as beacon light and strong pillars in nation building, noted‎ that they were being attracted to thuggery by unpatriotic politicians driven by the selfish syndrome of ‘ do or die’ politics to cause destruction.
” They use them for confrontational interest against political element in defence of their ambition.
” Where as, democracy and politiking were a game that should foster and promote respect for views, opinion and ambition according to its tenets”, She pointed out.
Earlier in his remarks, a top PDP stalwart in the state, Alhaji Umaru Kwabo A.A represented by‎ Alhaji Bello Isah appealed to parents and politicians to live up to their home and patriotic responsibilities of shaping a more peaceful and egalitarian society where violence, destructions and other vices should be abhored.
Kwabo however, said youths should not make themselves and future ruined by those he described elements of backwardness.
” We are ready to support your future through our individual and collective efforts by adding value to your lives for a better tomorrow for the benefit of the society and future generation. That is why I initiated in my own way a platform for assisting and supporting youths in both education‎ and job creation”, he expalined
