The newly sworn Sokoto state Governor Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto on Monday promised not to fail the confidence reposed in them assuring that they will work hard in driving a holistic approach in synergy with other arms of government in steering the state to prosperity.
He said in his inaugural speech at the Giginya Memorial township stadium, Sokoto that transparency, accountability and anti-corruption would be his watch words in providing good governance that will address the yearnings and aspirations of Sokoto people.
” We will run an inclusive system to steadfastly ensure social justice for citizens development.”
However,dignitaries and thousands of supporters from across the state witnessed the formal administration of oath of office and allegiance on Aliyu Sokoto and his deputy , Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir as presided by the state Chief Judge , Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa.
On roll were: the state APC Leader and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko , Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Minister of Police Affairs,Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Alhaji Umaru Kwabo A.A
, Sokoto APC Elders Forum Chairman and Federal Commissioner, Alhaji Aminu Tambari Tafida, former governors and Military administrators of the state: Abubakar Musa(Garkuwan Yauri), Abdulrasheed Adisa Raji and Rufa’i Garba Dan Asabe, state party Chairman,Sadik Isah Achida among top personalities at the event.
The governor, a 53 year old , is the second with academic doctorate degree preceded by late Dr. Garba Nadama in the second republic.
He noted that Sokoto state was in dare need of robust transformation which was denied in the 8 years of the PDP led government for ineffective leadership.
” We will restore the state lost glory in infrastructural development and general administration”, he assured.
According to Aliyu Sokoto, ” local government autonomy, effective civil service system, recognition of the traditional institution and prompt payments of salaries and entitlements including this of retirees are fundamental in attaining his administration already planned 9-point agenda which would be prioritized to fruition.
” We will strengthen a mechanism that would fast track better human oriented policies to address challenges and peculiarities.
” It is a fact that issues related to water shortages, environmental sanitation, challenges faced by the business community particularly on fire disaster at the central market , insecurity, poverty alleviation, social welfare and general economy are evident in the state.”
While acknowledging the resilience and untiring support of his mentor,Senator Wamakko, Aliyu Sokoto urged those in opposition to join hands with his government to develope the state while soliciting for the fervent prayers of Sokoto state people for the success of his government.
