Independence : Sokoto gov, Aliyu urges sacrifice, patriotism as drivers for unity, prosperity of Nigeria

The Sokoto state Governor Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has called on Nigerians to sustain and exhibit the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism for the prosperity of the country as a united , independent and sovereign entity.

Hitherto, stressed that Nigerians must demonstrate commitment to the Nigeria project which he said was sacrosanct.

He said patriotism, sacrifice and hard work were key to driving the country to its true destination for the desired developemnt in all spheres.

” We have to work and make sacrifices for the country to progress.”

Aliyu Sokoto made the remarks in a statement in commemoration of the nation’s 63rd independence anniversary.

According to him, for Nigeria to achieve its dream status as a nation, its citizens must exhibit tirelessness and selflessness in working towards service delivery.

” We must work selflessly and tirelessly for lasting legacies “, he stressed while extolling the giant strides of the nation’s founding fathers for their resilience and patriotic hearts in securing independence for the country.

” This is what is required of all and sundry for a united and prosperous Nigeria to be safeguarded by the present generation and those yet unborn”, he reiterated.

” Nigeria is the only country we can call ours, and it is beautiful and blessed with both human and material resources, so, we must make it a better place “, he added.

The governor also noted that economic and security challenges were some of the major and critical obstacles affecting the nation’s march to greatness needing to be addressed.

Accordingly Aliyu Sokoto decried the spate of corruption which he said was fast retarding development hence both leaders and the led must come to terms against the menace.
