INEC set to conduct transparent CVR exercise devoid of multiple registration – Sokoto REC

The Independent Electoral Commission ,INEC Sokoto office says is fully set to commence both online and physical Continuous Voters Registration exercise devoid of multiple registration for eligible Nigerian citizens from 18 years and above.

It also solicits stakeholders support to ensuring smooth conduct of the exercise expected to commence on 25 th August, 2025.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner , Umar Yusuf Garba said at a press briefing in Sokoto Thursday while highlighting that exercise was to further deepen and strengthen the country’s democratic process that allowed eligible voters obtain and meet the necessary requirement for election.

” The CVR exercise requires National ID card, Driver licence, International passport or any relevant mess of identification as required by law”, he said.

Garba said , the process was an important and crucial component of the electoral process which qualified eligible voters to exercise his or her franchise as a civic responsibility.

” We are starting with the online and physical process on 25th of August, 2025.

” Those eligible include citizens of Nigerian nationality who attain 28 years of age and never registered, cases of loss of damage of voter registration card, relocation or transfer and change of voting centre or unit”, the REC explained.

He said the commission was posed to instill confidence and protect the integrity of eligible voters with genuine details through the use of modern devices.

” The excess will be conducted across INEC offices at LGs from 9 am to 3 pm daily except on weekends and public holidays”, Garba said as he did loses that the commission would not employ the services of ad-hoc staff unless where the turnout of eligible citizens is massive to warrant an option of ad-hoc staff.

However, the REC said ” we are in full touch and contact with all security agencies in the state to ensure responsive synergy for a peaceful and orderly exercise across the state to provide platform for using automated voting system during elections.

” The commission is ready to conduct free, fair and transparent registration exercise that will be replicated during general elections devoid of multiple registration “, he assured.
