Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir (APC-Sokoto) has raised concerns on the urgent need for the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to the eight local government areas prone to bandits attacks in the east of Sokoto state.
He said the activities of bandits and other heinous crimes were on the increase across the eastern parts of the state.
He said the security officials in the areas were grossly in adequate noting that non of the local government areas have more than 100 policemen.
” The toll of their dreaded activities cut across 8 local government areas that constitute the eastern senatorial zone .”
Gobir, who made the appeal in a statement issued Friday in Sokoto by his media assistant, Mr Bello Muhammad named Sabon Birni, Gada, Wurno, Rabah, Illela, Goronyo, Isa and Gwadabawa as worst hit by the nefarious attacks of the bandits.
The APC Senator hitherto, appealed to for the deployment of at least 200 policemen with 10 Hilux vans, armed with enough weapons to protect lives and properties in the affected places.
The Senator who is the chairman senate committee on national security and intelligence expressed concern on the protection of lives and properties of every citizen.
