KYEF Seeks Collaboration with NAPRI to Boost Youth Empowerment in Animal Production

Shika-Zaria, Kaduna State — The Kaduna Youths Empowerment Foundation (KYEF), under the leadership of its Chairman, Barrister Abdullahi I. Fatika, has taken a significant step toward empowering young people in Northern Nigeria by forging a partnership with the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Shika-Zaria. The initiative aims to harness opportunities within the animal production sector to benefit youth across the region.

During a courtesy visit to NAPRI on December 18, 2024, the KYEF delegation engaged in discussions with NAPRI’s management team to outline a shared vision for the development of the animal production value chain. The meeting focused on areas such as training, capacity building, and policy advocacy to support the economic empowerment of youth in the 19 Northern states.

Barrister Fatika highlighted the foundation’s objectives to foster collaboration with key institutions like NAPRI. According to KYEF Secretary, Ambassador Umar Mohammed Dangiwa, the discussions centered on several key themes:

Training and Capacity Building: Joint initiatives to equip youth with skills in livestock rearing, processing, and marketing.

Opportunities Identification: Leveraging existing resources and creating pathways for youth participation in animal production.

Policy Strengthening: Developing policies to enhance youth involvement and growth within the sector.

Awareness and Sensitization: Campaigns to promote best practices in animal production, disease control, and market access.

The NAPRI management team warmly received the delegation and expressed enthusiasm for the proposed partnership. Both parties committed to working on a detailed action plan to ensure the collaboration yields tangible benefits.

“This visit has laid the groundwork for a robust partnership with NAPRI,” said Amb. Umar Dangiwa. “We are optimistic that this collaboration will drive sustainable growth and create opportunities for young people in the region.”

The partnership is expected to catalyze the transformation of the animal production sector, contributing to job creation and economic development across Northern Nigeria.
