The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained popular TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, following a viral livestreame that showed him crashing his vehicle during a reckless driving stunt.

The arrest, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, was a direct response to public outrage over the incident, which took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
According to police authorities, the 20-year-old4 influencer’s conduct was a grave violation of safety standards that endangered his own life and the lives of other motorists and pedestrians.
The command described the behavior as extremely irresponsible, noting that such stunts could easily result in fatal accidents.
The police further characterized the act as a deliberate attempt to cause harm or seek dangerous levels of online engagement at the expense of public safety
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has used the occasion to issue a stern warning to content creators and social media influencers against promoting lawlessness or performing illegal acts for digital clout.
The case has been officially transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive probe, and the suspect is expected to be charged in court following the conclusion of the investigation.
