In response to Atiku Abubakar, in a press statement signed by Hon. Nogizika Ihuoma (MNISM) Legislative Watch said that for the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina was reinstated back to the Federal Civil Service following the ruling of Justice Adamu Bello delivered on 27th March, 2013, which was ignored by the Goodluck Jonathan Administration. The ruling which is considered a Legal Classicus also gave MAINA a perpetual injunction against arrest under any guise by any organisation.
Hon. Ngozika Ihuoma again stated that on assumption of office on 29th May, 2015, the Legislative Watch wrote to Mr. President and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice bringing to thier attention the injustice and disobedience to the rule of law which eventually culminated into the dismissal of Maina from the Federal Civil Service. It was based on our persistence that justice must be done, that prompted the AGF to forward the subsisting Court order of 2013, to the Federal Civil Service Commission and Office of Head of Service for them to peeuse and advice as appropriate. The Federal Civil Service Commission, Ministry of Interior and Office of the Head of Service followed all known legal and transparent civil service rules and regulations in reviewing the 2013 dismissal and found same to be illegal. Based on that, the Federal Civil Service Commission and the afformentioned MDA’S approved the reinstatement of Maina back as a Deputy Director, a position he held as far back as February, 2013.
“In using Maina as a campaign tool, former Vice President has shown Nigerians that he is ugly desperate in his pursuit of the presidency. we had expected him to address facts, logic, truth and constitutionality in anything he says or does, instead of throwing stones into the “market square” not minding who will be affected,” the press statement said.
It also added that Atiku Abubakar has always harped on the fact that no court has ever convicted him of corrupt activities even when his boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has vowed not to support his Presidential bid as “God will not forgive him.”
Why should Maina abandon his court victory? If Atiku can attack the Buhari government for obeying court order in reinstating Maina, why does he rely on the same court to prove his innocence from the numerous corruption allegations currently raging against him ? Why is he running from the law? For the avoidance of doubt, Atiku should explain to Nigerians why he cannot even contemplate flying into the Unitrd States of American Airspace, and why is he afraid of facing the U.S law? We know that the United States of America government banned him from entry into their country; the Petroleum Technology Development Fund Scandal is fresh in our memory with documents, Privatization using Bureau of Public Enterprise scam is something we have enough evidense to show Nigerians and of his dismissal from the Nigeria Custom Service among others? The press statement questioned. We have documented factual dossiers, as such people should be civil and respect themselves.
Since Maina is not a rival to Atiku’s ambition of ruling Nigeria, we suggest that he (Maina) be allowed by whosoever it is, to savor his court victory as well as continue to render worthy assistance to Nigerians through the Buhari government for the betterment of all the citizenry. MAINA’S continued assistance to the Buhari Government, has led to the recovery of over N 1.3 Trillion funds illegally diverted by past administrations, which included the one Atiku served in. Enough is enough, leave Maina out of your political war and face your opponents like men do. Legislative Watch warned.
