Lucky Igbinedion’s Mother Murdered … Strangled to death by maid.

… Suspect Disappears With Money and Jewellery

Eighty-five-year-old Maria Oredola Igbinedion,  mother of the two-time former governor of Edo State, Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, has been reportedly strangulated and killed by her maid.

According to reports,  Maria from Usen in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, passed on, on Thursday, December 2 at her home in Ugbo, Benin-City, the Edo State capital at the age of 85.

However, The Will reports that the late Igbinedion died in the hands of one of the maids employed to live with and attend to her needs.

It was learnt that the maid strangled her in her home, took her jewellery and money and ran away with them.

Maria was reportedly confined to a wheelchair since her 80th birthday.

She was said to have survived the dark days of the Covid19 pandemic before her death in the hands of her maid.

It was learnt that efforts were being made to track and apprehend the maid who is reportedly from Cross River State.

Meanwhile, the burial rites for Maria will begin on Thursday, December 9 and end on Friday, December 10, according to the family

Maria was married to Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom as his first wife. She is survived by the former governor, Lucky Igbinedion, Bright Igbinedion, Charles Igbinedion, and Mabel Amadi nee Igbinedion as well as numerous grandchildren.
