Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, on Wednesday strolled back to the senate clutching a walking stick and wearing a neck brace, pitched his tent with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators.
His defection, analysts say, is a precursor to the actualisation of the threat by a faction of All progressives Congress, APC, made up of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, decampees, known as nPDP, to abandon the APC.
Upon his return to the senate on Wednesday, after his long absence from the Upper Chamber, Senator Dino Melaye, formally announced his return to PDP.
Melaye, like the biblical John the Baptist, according to the Source magazine investigation, is a fore-runner to the massive return of PDP decampees who had joined the APC in the run-up to the 2015 presidential Election.
The magazine was told that chieftains of nPDP met last week that Melaye should be used to test the waters, prompting him to announce his exit from the APC fold.
Insinuation is rife that many APC members mostly PDP decampees will jump ship very soon, indicating that it is a long walk ahead for the APC as the 2019 presidential election draws near.
