The North Africans, playing in their first-ever U-20 World Cup final, stunned the South American giants with two first-half goals from star forward Yassir Zabiri, who found the net in the 12th and 29th minutes to seal a famous victory.

Despite Argentina’s spirited attempts to fight back after the break, Morocco’s defence stood firm, led by captain Rayan El-Mourabet and goalkeeper Youssef Bakkali, who produced a series of crucial saves to preserve a clean sheet, according to ESPN.

Morocco’s path to the title was one of grit and brilliance. Drawn in a challenging group with Spain, Brazil, and Mexico, the Atlas Lions overcame an opening defeat to Mexico to top the group after stunning wins over Brazil and Spain.

In the knockout stages, Morocco edged South Korea in the round of 16, outclassed the United States in the quarter-finals, and survived a tense penalty shootout against France in the semi-final to book their spot in the final.

The win makes Morocco only the second African nation to lift the FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy, following Ghana’s triumph in 2009. It also marks the country’s first-ever FIFA tournament victory at any level — a milestone that further cements Morocco’s rising status as a global football force.
