Mrs Tambuwal flags off distribution of palliatives, empowerment items, assures to sustain initiative beyond Sokoto

WIFE of Sokoto state Governor,Hajiya Maryam Mairo Aminu Tambuwal says she would continue to champion the course for economic empowerment, social awareness, medical outreach services and other intervention activities to alleviate the sufferings of people in the state and beyond. 

According to her ” my project knows no bound irrespective of religion, political affiliation , gender or tribe. I will not compromise my drive through this laudable initiative for the people.”

Mrs Tambuwal who is founder of Legacy Initiative gave the assurance at the weekend when she fagged off he distribution of of palliatives, empowerment tools and intervention items worth millions of naira to cushion the economic effect of the novel Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

She noted that the pandemic has slowed down the economy growth with attendant effect on education culminating into GBV against women, girls and boys, a devastating circumstance that transited into mental derailment , stigmatisation among their not negative consequences.

Items distributed included assorted flood stuffs(rice ,grains , millet , maize, beans , cooking oil).

Others were grinding machines, mortar,  seedlings(economic trees; Dates palm, Mango, Guava, Papaya, Citrus (oranges).
According to the state First lady, the Legacy Initiative was essentially to strengthen opportunities for women and children of all sex. 

This she stressed, would further fast track and consolidate intervention activities in critical segments of human survival especially inmates, the less privilege, orphans , windows and others.

” Our outfit will work in synergy with the state Zakkat and Endowment Commission on GBV issues affecting women and children across all zones and LGAs”, She explained.

In the same vein, while hinting the launch of ‘ Back to School Programme’ campaign segment at the event, She explained that no fewer than 1000 pupils and students would benefit from various learning tools ranging from exercise books, handbooks among others in different dialects.

” The handbooks will touch on the general human survival activities and issues on humanitarian intervention.”

Earlier, Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Prof. Hajiya Aisha Madawaki described Mrs Tambuwal as a role model and game changer towards domesticating laudable initiatives with beneficial impact to the people through her pet project.

” Her foot prints remain a model. Touching many critical areas of human concerns and survival including developmental,social, sanitation and water, hygiene and nutrition.”

According to Madawaki” all these are testimonies of her breakthrough which keeps translating into documented achievements since the establishment of Legacy Initiative in 2016.”

Similarly, the state Zakkat and Endowment Commission , Lawal Maidoki enumerated the significance of charity through empowerment and intervention activities which he said was rewarding and supportive to human survival .

Also in her brief message of goodwill, Professor Sadiya Umar Bello of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto who described Mrs Tambuwal as first among equals in the drive to support humanity said ” she is a role model and exemplary woman in the rank of strong women in he caliphate.
