THE Sokoto state Chapter of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations(NACOMYO) in collaboration with 8 others have outlined series of activities to herald the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar on the eminent throne of the caliphate on November 2nd, 2021.
A renown international Islamic scholar , Shiekh Mufti Menk is expected to deliver a lecture on Tuesday November 2nd, 2021 at the International Conference Centre, Kasarawa, Sokoto as part of the arrangements for the weeklong activities to begin on Sunday, 24th October , 2021.
Sultan Abubakar emerged as the 20th Sultan of Sokoto on November 2nd 2006 following the demise of the 19th Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Maccido in the ADC air crash in Abuja on 29th October 2006 which claimed no fewer than 96 lives.
According to the programme of events released Thursday night for the epoch making ceremony by the organisers, preliminaries will kick start with phone in programme both in English and Hausa languages on 7 local stations(radio/TV) will hold between 24th-27th.
The preliminaries will dwell on the Sultan’s 15 years of leadership to feature key personalities as presenters.
Similarly, at GGC, Sokoto, quiz and essay competitions in Arabic, Hausa and English will hold among students drawn from schools in the state on the contributions of Shiekh Usmanu Bn Fodiyo.
However, the essay topics will include among others: Curbing the menace of drug abuse among youths; Role of youths in combating insecurity in Nigeria; Ways and means of improving kindness to parents, ” which will be followed by a press conference on 27th at the Sultan Muhammad Maccido Institute for Qur’anic and General Studies, Sokoto.
Hitherto, the formal opening ceremony for paper presentations with the lead on His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 15 years of Leadership: Progress and Prospects is expected to hold on Saturday 30th October, 2021 at same venue under he Chairmanship of HRH, the Emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera.
Accordingly, the events will also feature a symposium on 4 topics by tertiary institutions in the state; Role of Youths in reviving the legacies of self reliance of Shiekh Usmanu Bn Fodiyo and Curbing the menace of drug abuse among youths: Lessons from Sheikh Usmanu Bn Fodiyo’s drug free society.
While a programme on Special Zakkat distribution and exhibition of Shiekh Usmanu Bn Fodiyo Books would be featured with Malam Lawal Maidoki , Executive Chairman SOZECOM as host at same venue on November 1st, 2021 accordingly.
