The National Association of Nigerian Students has issued a strong condemnation following the abduction of John Arum a student of the University of Jos. Arum was reportedly seized while traveling to Kaduna with his captors subsequently demanding a ransom of ₦30 million for his release.

NANS National President Olushola Oladoja expressed outrage over the incident citing surfaced evidence that shows the student being subjected to inhumane treatment.
The association criticized the slow response from authorities and emphasized that the situation highlights the increasing vulnerability of students to criminal activities across the country.
NANS has called for an immediate intervention by the Federal Government and security agencies to secure Arum’s freedom and address the broader security challenges facing Nigerian travelers.
