1. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has appealed to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded election, Bola Tinubu, to ensure he doesn’t disappoint Nigerians and the people of Africa after been declared Nigeria’s president-elect. The foremost Yoruba monarch made the appeal in a congratulatory message to Tinubu released on Wednesday. The Ooni described Tinubu as a man of destiny, a game changer and a progressive workaholic who does not only merit the victory but also has adequate proven capacity to lead the country to an enviable position in the global committee of nations. 2. Controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for allegedly failing to follow proper procedure in the conduct of the just concluded presidential elections. According to report there have been series of protests across the country following the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of last Saturday’s poll. Reacting to the controversy, Gumi posted On his official Facebook page, asking the aggrieved parties to seek redress in court. The Confederation of African Football has assigned Egyptian referee Ahmed Nagy Mosa as referee for today’s Africa Under- 20 Cup of Nations between Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and Ugandan counterparts at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt. Mosa will be supported by compatriots Mohamed Abouzid Halhal (assistant referee 1) and Yara Atef (assistant referee 2), as well as Libyan official Abdulrazg Ahmed (fourth official). Justin Mumba from Zambia will be the match commissioner while Rosalie N’dah from Benin Republic will serve as referee assessor and Namibian Titus Kunamuene will be in the role of general coordinator. 4. Panama’s Supreme Court has ruled that same-sex marriage is not a human right and the country therefore does not have to recognise such unions. The court had been considering the issue since 2016, following several appeals from same-sex couples claiming the Central American country’s family code was unconstitutional as it only recognises marriages between a man and a woman. The same-sex couples who filed suit were attempting to have marriages that took place in other countries be legally recognised in Panama.The court, however, said, “no matter how many changes happen in reality,” for now gay marriage “lacks conventional and constitutional recognition.” PUNCH

5. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has been told not to put too much energy in celebrating their declaration of victory by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. According to one of the leading figures of the Obidient movement, Aisha Yesufu, said there was so much evidence of electoral fraud. According to the activist, the election was rigged, but the riggers forgot that results from polling units must be provided and not what was read out by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at the national collation centres. An High Court sitting at Okoita community, headquarters of Ibiono local government area of Akwa Ibom State, has sentenced a cleric, one prophet Anwana Peter Essien, to 21 years imprisonment for defiling his stepdaughter, aged 10. The convict, aged 37, was said to have had carnal knowledge of the JSS student on August 9, 2019, when her mother, who filed the case, said she took the victim and her younger sister to spend holiday with their stepfather in his house at Itiam Street in Uyo, the state capital. In his confession before the Court, the suspect had confessed to the crime, blaming the demon for the act. LEADERSHIP

The hashtag #TwitterDown and the term “My Twitter” were trending on Wednesday morning as users struggled to access their accounts. The users of the site reported the outage on the Down Detector website, a site that monitors outages.
