The Bishop of the Diocese of Owo, Anglican Communion, Stephen Fagbemi, has advised the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to come up, as a matter of urgency, with policies that will alleviate the pains of Nigerians when his administration begins. Fagbemi gave the advice on Thursday in Ondo State. The bishop said Nigerians have been subjected to agony and pains over the years, hence the need for people-oriented programmes and policies that revolve around education, security and infrastructure. 3. The Supreme Court has ordered the circulation of the old naira notes alongside the new ones until December 31. In a unanimous judgment, a seven-member panel of justices presided by Justice Inyang Okoro, on Friday, held that the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the redesigning and withdrawal of old notes of N200, N500 and N1000, without consultation with the states, the Federal Executive Council and the National Council of State, was unconstitutional. 4. Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has celebrated the Flying Eagles passage to the semi-final at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Peseiro also felicitated with the team for securing a place at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

5. Breakaway Somaliland has warned over an impending attack on its territories by troops from the neighbouring Somali region of Puntland and vowed to defend itself against any aggression. Somaliland’s defence ministry said it received credible intelligence indicating that members of the Puntland Security Force and Puntland Maritime Police Force were planning to attack its military over the next few days. Somaliland says it is taking the threats seriously and has taken all the necessary steps to safeguard its people and territories. Candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, on Friday, secured leave of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja to have access to all the sensitive materials the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, deployed for the conduct of the presidential election that held on February 25. The appellate court, which will sit as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, equally ordered the electoral body to also grant the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, access to the election materials. A panel of the appellate court led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh made the orders after it heard two separate ex-parte applications the two aggrieved presidential candidates filed alongside their political parties. 9. An influential lawyer from South Carolina, in the United States, Alex Murdaugh has been found guilty of murdering his wife and son to distract from his multi-million dollar financial crimes. The jury deliberated for less than three hours before convicting the 54-year-old Murdaugh of two counts of murder at the end of a six-week trial, according to BBC on Friday. His wife, Maggie and son, Paul were shot at close range near the dog kennels on their family estate on 7 June 2021. VANGUARD
